Cutting weekly auction sizes and running bond buybacks reduces near-term gross issuance and rollover risk, which can ease pressure on the domestic government bond curve and support secondary-market liquidity if demand holds. The effect depends on buyback scale and execution; reduced issuance alone does not guarantee spread compression without sustained investor demand.

Treasury notice with operational details of the buyback and the first announced buyback operations; the reduced weekly auction schedule takes effect 3 Nov (ILBs from 30 Oct).
